How to make delicious ginger jam for New Year’s Day

Ginger is a food known for its many health benefits. Ginger is effective in treating the symptoms of vomiting and nausea, making the body feel better after only a short period of time. At the same time, it also promotes digestion, absorption of minerals and other nutrients, stimulates appetite as well as maintains the digestive system in the best state.

Ingredient:

  • 1kg of ginger
  • 1 fresh lemon
  • 500g White Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Doing:

Wash the ginger, remove all the soil that is still attached to the skin of the ginger. Then, use a knife or spoon to scrape off the outer skin and cut it into slices. Be careful not to slice too thin.

Mix 1 teaspoon of salt in a bowl of water and add sliced ginger to soak. After about 30 minutes, pour the ginger into the basket, rinse several times with clean water.

Boil a large pot of water, then wait for the water to boil, then pour the sliced ginger into the pot. Then squeeze a lemon in while boiling to help reduce the strong smell and spicy taste of ginger, making the ginger more golden.

Wait for the ginger to boil for about 5 minutes, then turn off the heat, drain the water, remove the ginger from the basket and rinse the ginger in cold water several times. Then continue to boil ginger 2-3 more times.

The next step is to marinate ginger with refined white sugar in a ratio of 2:1. Stir well for ginger and sugar to infuse and leave for about 30 – 45 minutes to infuse more evenly.

Put the pan on the stove, remember to let the pan dry before pouring the marinated ginger into the pan. When you see the ginger bubbling, turn down the heat to low and stir well. When you see crystallized white sugar clinging to the ginger, quickly put the pan on the stove.

To keep the ginger jam long to spoil, when the jam is cooled, you should put it in a glass jar or plastic bag and cover it tightly to avoid exposure to air.
